I've been a fan of Draplin ever since we brought him in for Design Camp in 2009 (recapped nicely here by Miss Lisa Valley), so I was pumped to see that he is first up in the lineup of speakers for this years Walker Insights.

Wow, sorry for the week delay! Surprisingly, that's the longest I've gone between posts in over a year!

To get back on track I thought I'd tell ya'll about a fantastic FREE EVENT tomorrow at the MIA (Minneapolis Institute of Arts). Get Graphic is going to be an evening of poster art, wood type, and music.  Co-sponsored by AIGA MN, my über favorite wood type nerds, Hamilton Wood Type Museum will be there- which should be reason enough to venture out on a Thursday night.


Oh yeah, I'll be there to. :)

A great interview with James Victore was just posted over on Behance. My favorite excerpt:

"My third students [at SVA] aren’t allowed to use computers. It really frustrates them because they don’t know how to use their hands. But I say listen, I know how much time it takes to boot up a computer, and open InDesign, and you get a box, and you type a letter in it. And you make it this big. Then you make it this big. Then you make it this big. Then you make it this big. Then you move it over here. Then you make it red. Then you make it this big. And it’s like: You’re not designing! You’re organizing. That’s easy. Worry about that later."
