Other People's Opinions

I was having what you might call a crisis of confidence this morning after dropping off my poster for this years' Poster Offensive.  Suddenly I thought it wasn't as good as my previous submissions, what was I thinking!? (Didn't help that a friend said that maybe my previous work was my "To Kill a Mockingbird." What?! ).

Alas, my officemate sent this video to get me out of my funk. Thanks, friend.

Swearing Makes Me Smile

Some days you just aren't as jovial as you want to be. Today is one of those days for me. One side of my nose is runny, I haven't had any coffee (only tea, for said runny nose) and blinking seems to take an enormous amount of effort. Needless to say, I could've passed on the whole "work" thing today. But alas...

Luckily I came across this video. I've posted about the site and the poster in the past, but this is my favorite installment from these dudes thus far. The whole "Go for it." sentimentality really strikes a cord with me.

ps: don't you love his wallpaper "I work because I love this shit." ...that's the way it should be.

Swearing Makes Me Smile

We all remember this hilariously foul monologue from McSweeney's I'm Comic Sans Asshole, and now it's an animation! I actually kind of prefer the written version better, but I s'pose this video makes for better blogging.

Swearing Makes Me Smile

I don't know about you, but this is usually how I feel by the time I get up the nerve to brave the grocery store.

Good F'n Design Advice

I admit, I probably use the fbomb more than is necessary and in general swear like a sailor for no particularly good reason. Which makes the Good Fucking Design Advice site quite enjoyable for me! Sometimes the truth hurts and in this case the truth would be censored on broadcast television. You should check it out, but in the meantime a few of my favs:

Fix your fucking letterspacing.
Fucking simplify.
Educate your fucking client.
Use a fucking grid.
Take a fucking chance.
Drink more fucking coffee.
Don't fucking quit.

and the big one:
Love your fucking job.

So true...
