A night out.

I was up north last weekend in Duluth (home of my alma matter) to visit some friends and we decided to check out Blackwater, a more upscale joint that has sprung up since I moved away. I must say, it was a refreshing change to most of the bars up north (think camouflage hats and wood paneling... and not the classy kind)–while I appreciate the rustic, it was nice to class it up for a night (after we grabbed an Anchor burger, that is).

I am so hungry today, lunch cannot come soon enough. With this in mind it was pretty much a HUGE mistake to click over to What Katie Ate, a fantastic food blog. GORGEOUS photo styling that makes already delicious food look even more appetizing. 


I've been on a real egg kick lately, so these egg bakes I bookmarked from her site a while back are literally calling my name.

Dress-it-up Friday!

With the weekend looming I'm itching to hightail it up North (yes, capitalized, North is a destination here in MN) for a night out with my girlfriends on Saturday. Wouldn't the dress on the right be a fun going-out-for-a-fancy-night dress? It's fun, but still long enough to keep you warm in below zero temps (always a conundrum for ladies trying to party in the tundra).

Quilting Tutorial

katie did is an awesome blog that is no longer updated due to creepers skulking on her life, but there is a bundle of remaining inspiration to page through, nonetheless. 

I'm in a major sewing mood right now and this handy quilting tutorial, makes me want to run home and finish up a quilt top that I started in... oh, about 2005. (6 years isn't too long to take on a lap quilt... right?) I love the slanty quilting lines and how the contrasting thread really pops against solid backgrounds (AND the crazy pattern binding). Pretty much I'm just in love with this whole project.

Who Needs Sleep?

I slept an average of 4.5 hours a night in college and now I wonder how the hell I did it. Granted I was continually draggin ass and became a pretty huge advocate of the nap toward the end... 

Anywho, now that I'm an "adult" I try to get as much sleep in as possible, but sometimes my night owl ways creep back in (like blogging at midnight... oops). This infographic from Fast Company makes me think I should probably call it a night.

I am still on the hunt for a cool canister to keep on the counter for my coffee. I'm still open to making my own, but I've had very little spare time for crafting lately.

However, today I found this! Graphic, great pattern and lovely wooden lid. It's a little spendy (at $38 dollars), but it just might be worth it.
